In 1928 Lydia O'Leary used her knowledge of chemistry and love of painting to have the idea of creating a make-up foundation that would conceal her port wine stain she had on her face. The first product was Covermark, it was the first foundation to have a patent. Helena Rubenstein in 1942, developed shades to cover burns. They also used in different colors, and they used to camouflage by having their face covered with makeup. Conceal comes from concēlāre, that means to hide, cover, or keepfrom sight. From all this different ideas Marlyn Monroe discovered that you could make yourself more glamourous and prettier. People started grabbing the idea and made different type of makeup that could hide you from things that could make you look prettier.
